What “In your cloud” means and how we check it
Every item in the Album says where its backup is and how the app knows it. This page explains those lines.
What the item says
In your StateNull Cloud ✓ — checked by fingerprint
Your StateNull Cloud computed the SHA-256 fingerprint of exactly what it stored, and it matched the fingerprint of what this phone sent. For your own destinations — a NAS, WebDAV, S3, SFTP or a folder — the app reads the file back, or the server reports its fingerprint, and compares them the same way. Only a match counts.
In your StateNull Cloud ✓ — found by name and size (uploaded by an older app version)
Older app versions sent items without keeping the fingerprint of what they sent. For those items the app looks in your StateNull Cloud for a file with the item's name and exactly the size that copy must have. This is a weaker check than a fingerprint: it shows that a copy with that name and size is there, not that every byte matches.
Marked as uploaded — not checked yet
An older app version marked the item as uploaded, and nothing has confirmed it since. The app checks StateNull Cloud by itself when you open the Album; for another destination, tap Check now on the item.
Not in your StateNull Cloud yet
Nothing confirms that your StateNull Cloud holds this item. Tap Upload now on the item, or Upload all at the top of the Album — it sends only the items that are not there yet.
Waiting — will try again
The last try did not get through — no network, or a busy server. The app tries again by itself, also after a restart.
Needs you
Something only you can fix — a password, a folder permission, a full destination. The reason is shown with the item; fix it, then tap Try now.
Kept on this phone only
The item's album does not upload, or does not upload this kind of file. Change that in Albums if you want a backup.
Your own destinations
When an album goes to another destination — a NAS, a cloud account, a folder — the same lines name it: “Delivered to … ✓ — checked by fingerprint”, “Not delivered to … yet”.
Older items
Once, when you open the Album, the app compares older items with what your StateNull Cloud lists for this phone and tells you how many it found. The last result stays in Settings › Where your files go, on the StateNull Cloud row, with Check again.
What it does not mean
A backup line says where a copy is stored and how that was checked. It is not evidence that a photo is authentic or unchanged since it was taken — that is what the seal and the check at statenull.com/verify are for.
The copy in your StateNull Cloud is encrypted with this phone's key: only this phone can open it. To bring your Records to a new phone, use the Cloud Vault and your Recovery Code.
